Travertine is a type of stone that belongs to the limestone family. Travertine is used ins and floors and in entryways, bathrooms and. Before using, it is important to seal the, as travertine is porous. If the tile is not sealed, any liquid could leak into the tile, causing discoloration and damage. Proper care and cleaning will extend the life of the and enhance its natural beauty. Well, here we will introduce types of cleaning:

One is for the daily cleaning. The first step is to glide over the floor daily with a dust mop or microfiber mop. The second step is to clean up spills immediately with a dry rag or cloth to completely dry the area. Do not allow liquid to sit on the naturally porous tile. At last, clean up any spots or sticky areas with a dish cloth dipped in warm water. Wipe dry.

Another one is for the heavy cleaning. Apply a neutral pH-balanced floor cleaner or stone soap. Follow the directions on the package to mix the correct amount of floor cleaner with water in a mop bucket; Mop the floor with the cleaning solution. Wring the mop so it is damp and does not soak the floor; Scrub the grout, using a soft-bristled brush. Dip the brush in the floor cleaner and gently rub the brush into the grout to clean it; Rinse the mop bucket and the mop. Fill the mop bucket with warm water. Pebbles are smaller used in decorating the fountains and pathways in the garden. Being used at a large scale these pebbles are the best choice for various interior-designing purposes. Due to their fireproof nature and low maintenance cost these pebble stones are very much used today. Pebble stones could be easily found in the application like fountains, landscaping and many more. Extremely versatile natural pebble stone have different varieties in color. These stones are used for flooring, baths and showers, counter tops and backslash, patios and pool decks, pools and spas, interior and exterior walls much more to mention. It brings the textures and colors that only natural stone can, these pebble stones are beautifully chiseled artifacts in their styles, design and finishing.

For those of you who love trendy and sophisticated living ideas, here is a beautiful idea that really caught my attention today. You could look at the above images first, at this project which named Arketipo, they want to create a naturalistic interior design, by using nature-inspired materials. Now what I like the most at this project is how a few pebbles can make from a banal space a very interesting one. While I was looking at these pictures a few new interior design ideas related to pebbles popped into my head, and I hope I??m not the only one who got new ideas from this post.

Never underestimate the importance of a well-planned driveway. Done right, it should be wide enough to navigate, strong enough to withstand occasional delivery trucks and graded so water slides off like rain from a roof. A good driveway also complements the house and is a pleasure to traverse. Start by planning the route from the road to the garage thoughtfully. A curve or two takes up more land but lends grace. Drives should be at least 10 to 12 feet wide at straight runs and 14 feet wide at curves, says the landscape architect Tom Wirth. If the drive is long, provide a 12-by-18-foot (or larger) space at the top for turning around; this can double as guest parking. To make sure there's enough room, do what Tom does: Make a scale model of the cars and driveway first. "We slide the models around on the drive and make sure the turning radii are generous. "Prevent  puddling  by angling the paved surface slightly downhill. Or create a crown: The center of the drive is built up so water flows down the sides into the soil or drainage channels.

A drive that's too steep is slippery and dangerous. Never exceed a rise of 15 feet per 100 feet of distance (a slope of 15 percent). If the driveway must wind up a steep area, add curves to lessen the slope, or cut into the hillside. The surface material should fit the character of the house and the landscape. Depending upon where you live, it should also stand up to snowplows, road salt and fluids, such as oil and antifreeze, which leak from cars.

When it comes to the placement of garden fountain the old mantra of location, location, and location holds true. The calming sounds and beautiful sights of a well-placed fountain can transform a landscape. The number one thing to remember is that a fountain should be placed in a spot that readily allows people to enjoy it. A fountain should never be hidden in a part of your yard that rarely gets visited, this defeats its purpose.Well, it's best to select a location for your fountain before selecting the fountain itself. This way you know how much space is available and what type and style of fountain will best suit your needs. Picking a fountain with a particular area of your garden in mind will result in a cohesive and natural feeling, as if the fountain belongs there. If done the other way around, you may end up with a fountain that sticks out like a sore thumb.

If your garden has a formal design, a fountain should be placed in a central location where it can serve as a focal point. In this case, fountains are often placed at the intersection of two paths. If your garden has an informal design a fountain should be tucked into a corner, or placed along a garden path. The goal of a fountain in an informal setting is to serve as an accent rather than a focal point.

Apart from the river rock, there are other two important decorative rocks, one is the Volcanic or Lava rock, another one is the crushed rock. If you are planning to apply them at your garden, you could take the following information into account.
For volcanic rock, it is rock that has been formed after lava from a volcano or other eruption has occurred. Lava rock is typically either red or black, and can be used to offset shrubbery or other yard fixtures and provides dramatic contrast to the objects around it. It is typically fairly sharp, and uncomfortable to walk on barefoot, so it is not recommended for pathways or around pools. Lava rock tends to be more expensive than other types of rock, and so should likely be considered as a contrasting or enhancing material as opposed to the staple.
While for the crushed rock, it comes in a variety of sizes and colors, similar to river rock, but instead of tumbled to make it smooth, it is crushed which creates jagged, asymmetrical edges to the rock. It generally doesn't settle to a flat surface, but creates a surface that is irregular and complex. From a design standpoint, it is best used in small doses, and it too is uncomfortable to walk on barefoot. Crushed rock is commonly used for gravel or rock driveways. The smallest size, which ranges from dust particles to less than half and inch creates fill for larger rocks. The effect of covering larger rocks with the smaller type creates a surface that is almost completely level and even.

Stone and wood have been the basic building blocks of home construction for generations. Genuine stone and siding are both used extensively in sidings, but artificial wood and are also being used. Combining wood and siding is a common design approach. The two textures provide visual elements that complement each other well.

Country and New England style houses are often sided primarily with clapboard, with a low stone accent wall along the bottom of the house. Other accents may include rings of stone around doors, windows and other openings and stone columns at the corners of the house. The stones can be either flat for a more traditional look, or edge stacked for an up-to-date feel. The color of the siding should correlate with the tones of the stone, either matching the stone, or with a complementary but contrasting color. Since siding is above, short houses typically look best with lighter siding and darker stone, whereas taller houses work well either way.
Meanwhile, stone with sided trim is also quite popular. Most homes that are primarily stone have some sided trim and accents. Since areas such as eaves are difficult to cover with stone, so the traditional soffit and fascia are normally used. Other areas that may be sided on primarily stone homes are the trim around doors and windows. Most stone veneers that run the full height of the wall are flat mounted with grout, rather than edge stacked, which tends to look busy in that large an installation. Vinyl clapboard, again, is the easiest and least expensive choice for trimming a primarily stone house.

For hundreds of years, slates have been used for roofing. Slate possesses all the natural qualities necessary for roofs not least because it is easily split into tiles of regular thickness. These tiles are thin enough to create a light roofing material and have the added advantage of being almost completely impermeable to rain and with a high resistance to frost. provides a long lasting roof covering, able to stand up to the effects of atmospheric agents.

Furthermore, it should not be underestimated today that slate, contrary to asbestos-cement tiles which are sometimes erroneously mistaken for slate and which modern regulations state must be removed, is a material which can be considered ecologically perfect. The tiles which were traditionally used by local countrymen in Cogorno and the Val fontanabuona, were not particularly well finished, but the result was roofs of such rustic charm, their beauty is still very much appreciated today. On the contrary, it was a different matter for the slate which was imported to the nearby cities, particularly Genoa. Still today, the rooftops of the historic centre in Genoa are made of traditional rectangular or square slates, while many of the church domes and bell towers have characteristic scaled roofs.
